history
Wren is an island theocracy, which worships Kharas it is an old land that has stagnated somewhat due to their intolerance of non-human races. Because Kharas is the patron deity of mankind the current theological dogma is to consider all non-humans as a threat to the existence of mankind. Humanoids are hunted to the point of extinction on Wren. All Elves have been banished
Dwarves, Gnomes, and Hobbits are considered deformed humans, and while tolerated they are considered third class citizens below human criminals and barely above slaves.
The human population is not evil per SE. Merely ignorant and intolerant of other races. To fellow humans the society would be considered lawful good, if a little on the pompous side since they see themselves as man kinds saviors. They consider their isle the last bastion of untainted humanity.
Wren is fairly self supportive most exports consist of textiles and minerals, there are large deposits of silver and gold in the mountains of Wren. Mount Irain is one of the holiest places on Erisa. Legend has I that this is where Kharas sat when creating the race of man. The monastery of one of the major holy orders on Erisa, the Knights of the flame, was founded here. Wrennish Yeoman are famous for the use of the longbow
observations-
"We have been greatly maligned by those you would think would have stood fast with us. We who have stood against the darkness for so long. We are the servants of the flame, the chosen of Lord Kharas. Created in his own image to seek out the forces of darkness and destroy them with the power of his cleansing flame. Only by eradicating the servants of evil can we ensure the peace and prosperity of the human race."
A Wrennish Paladin of Kharas
"Wren? I had liberty there once, the cleanest, most well kept, orderly, damnably boring place I've ever been in my life. The taverns were only open for two hours after sundown, there was a two-pint maximum per person 'cause public drunkenness was forbidden. And not a single whorehouse on the whole bloody island. My mates and I spent some time in their market and began having a bit o' fun with the local girls when quick as you like we were surrounded by a squad of the city watch, all with stern faces and sharp halberds. they escorted us to a large jail for foreigners and fined us each 3silver pennies for creating a public disturbance. Our first mate bailed us out and we spent the last two days of our liberty on extra duty. I'd rather burn boils off my ass with a hot poker than visit Wren again.
A Ravvikan sailor
"my cousin was born in Wren. You wouldn't believe the stories he told me. Living in constant fear of the inquisitors, our children were taught in schools that any race other than human was tainted with evil, whole families of gnomes "relocated" to special Camps, their goods sold off and their property "purchased" by the church of Kharas for next to nothing. No one complains, there's no justice there unless you're human. He escaped on a merchant ship from Pellen and made his way here."
