The army is made of brigades.  Each brigade has up to one thousand enlisted men and cadre of NCO's and officers and is under the command of a Colonel.  The brigade is divided into two battalions of five hundred troops each. Each battalion is broken up into five companies (five line and one HQ) of one hundred troops each.  The garrison of a small fortress or large guard house
would usually be a company. The company is broken up into five platoons (four line, one HQ)
of twenty troopers, the garrison of an average guardhouse would be a platoon.
There are currently two full strength brigades in active status at this time other troops are in a reserve capacity or in smaller components manning forts and strategic points through out the kingdom.

1st brigade /1st battalion  "Kings Guard"
commander King David IV
three companies of heavy infantry, two companies of longbow men. The troopers of the kings guard are the elite of the military they are charged with the defense of the royal palace and the security of the royal family.  There are no hereditary appointments in this Battalion all positions are earned and held on merit.

1st brigade / 2nd battalion "Guard Phorsus"
Commander : Colonel Alexis Korrigan
two companies of mounted infantry, three companies of longbow men.  These troops are responsible for the defense of the city of Samuel's Landing in case of attack. They also man the city gates and patrol the outlying regions.

The navy is made of two fleets.  Each fleet is made up of two task forces of ten ships each and is commanded by an admiral.  One task force in each fleet is always on patrol.  Each ship holds twenty sailors and forty marines and is commanded by a captain. Additionally up to three priests of Mandos or a wizard of third to sixth level will also be on board. In wartime an additional twenty to thirty ships can be converted and manned for war duty.

Notes: Prince Samuel's islands, are composed of four islands; Samuel, Moonwood,...  Mandos, and Kharas are the primary deities worshiped here there is also the small island of Moonwood that is held sacred to Rhiannon.  The islands of this state are beautiful, semitropical ones, where the climate is favorable except during the stormy season, and food from the sea and the lush vegetation is easily obtained.
Samuel's landing is a surprisingly cosmopolitan city, for such is unexpected in such an easy near-paradisiacal setting. Slavery is not permitted. There is a large freeman class and a small but well loved noble upper class.
 History
six hundred years ago, as King Arlen III of Aragos lay on his deathbed, he summoned his twin sons Rolf and Samuel to decide the heir to the throne of Aragos the two brothers had never been close and in truth hadn't seen each other in several years. Rolf had been immersed in mercantile pursuits and Samuel had been at sea in the navy. The King declared Rolf heir to the throne and commanded Samuel to swear fealty.  This Samuel could not do. therefore the last command of the king was that Samuel and such followers as would follow his banner be exiled forever.
